The word for the day is Bhutan.

This trip will define my activity for the next 14 months, as I figure the best way to be in shape for 3-10 miles daily at 5,000 to 9,000 feet above sea level is to be able to do 3-5 miles daily in the NC heat next summer. Starting with Yoga, weight training and basic Cardio. I'm going to map out the course of action and start setting interim goals. Not to mention working on keeping my bank account healthy. The basic price doesn't include flying to/from LA, gear or the flights between Bangkok and Bhutan.

I'm looking forward to the journey of getting ready for the journey.

While I'm sure that this is a great trip and all...
5295$ for 12 days?
441.25$ a day?
And you'll have to seriously work out for over a year in order to survive the trip?

hm...
Those group travel prices never fail to amaze me!

I will consider becoming a group travel organizer myself now.

The minimum daily tariff in Bhutan is $200/day. That includes food, lodging and transportation. The entire tourist business is privatized by the government. You don't get in to visit without a visa and the rules are VERY strict. They limit outsiders pretty severely. And there's no point in going solo, I'll get to see a lot more by taking this trip than almost any other way I could go there.

It's a once-in-a-lifetime trip. I had a strong conversation with myself about the total cost, but I had to go through hell to get the money I will use to pay for the trip and the spiritual payout of going is worth spending the blood money in my bank account. _This_trip_ truly is the reason that money is there, I'm 100% certain of that.

Oh, and regarding the workout. I'm very out of shape and it's a very active trip. The better prepared I am physically, the more I'll enjoy the trip. And I have 14 months to get ready, so I shall prepare intelligently. To borrow from _Stripes_, I'll be a "lean, mean, fighting machine" and ready for anything.

I understand.
I really do.
I hope it'll be as wonderful and life-enriching as you think!

I'm a little out of shape myself, I should probably work out with you.

I'm sure you will have your selection of workout partners once you get here; seems like everyone I know has (or is trying to have) a regimen right now.

How Exciting!

I'll have to review the trip in more detail, but it looks like it will be a blast!
